Latifah Will Possibly Be Boycotted If She Doesn’t Tell Her Business WTF?
I swear proposition 8 has caused too much non sense to take place. I just found out via Ebony Intuition and Clutch that Queen Latifah is being pressured to come out of the closet by numerous prominent gay groups.They want to use her voice to help overturn Proposition 8 in California. One organization is threatening to boycott Queen Latifah if she doesn’t come out of the closet and they want her to do it during the People’s Choice Awards.
Now as much as I am against propostion 8 this is utterly fucking ridiculous to try to force someone to tell their personal business. Whatever her sexual orientation is, it is nobody’s business but, Queen Latifah aka Dana Owen’s. Like seriously, how are you going to boycott somebody for not telling their business. I honestly don’t see how anyone a part of the LGBT community can try to force someone to come out no matter the reason is for. “Coming Out” is NOT something that’s about other people. It’s about the individual’s choice, comfortability, and plain and simple THEIR BUSINESS.
what? this is just plain stupid. forcing folks out of the closet? this makes no sense and is a gross violation of the right to privacy.
That is ridiculous. Shame on them! Let that woman live her life the way she chooses. No one should be pressured to come out. It’s a personal decision.
She doesn’t have to tell anybody about her business…she is the QUEEN!

just coming by again, to say that now that I have slept on this. this is even more ridiclous! this bothered me last night that people think it is the right thing to do to pressure someone to come out to fight for a cause that they may or may not even give a darn about. im just saying…
but what is even more funny to me is that this group wants to be anonomyous…how about that for closets.

i am tired of people trying to dictate how other people should live. are this people now guilty of the same hypocrisy they are fighting?
At the end of the day this is about a group using an individual to further their own agenda. If she wanted to use her voice to help the LGBT community, she would have already. For whatever reason, Queen Latifah doesn’t see the need to out her personal life, something she has guarded all these years, to help them.
If I were her, their threats would only make me not want to help. Hell, she doesn’t live in CA. I know that ultimately this is a national issue, but she doesn’t live in CA and so as of right now it’s not her problem (so to speak). I’m just disgusted with both sides at this point. Nobody is using their brain and everyone is out for self. It’s CRAZY.
This makes no sense. It’s like when Perez Hilton makes it his mission to out people because he feels they owe it to the gay community. Gays don’t owe anything to their community than to be themselves and come out when they’re ready. When Queen does reveal her true self, it should be on her own terms.

Deep Diva- Wow. I didn’t know Perez was doing that. He should be ashamed. Nobody owes anybody anything. Also begging and asking celebs to come out seems like well if we have celebs that are out then our lifestyle is then validated. We don’t need anyone to validate shit. Like you said we don’t anything than to be ourselves and do shit on our own time.
Hmmm…Perez doesn’t have anything on his blog about it. Most of everything I’ve read doesn’t really give specifics about exactly where the pressure is coming from, just some miscellaneous activist groups…
I haven’t been to his blog in a minute. He’s usually on top of everything. I know same here. I haven’t heard any specific names of the groups.I want to find out who exactly it is.
WTF…WTF. How the hell is anyone going to boycott someone not coming out? Hell, Queen Latifah doesn’t owe anyone a damn thing. And no groups should put any type of requirement just to get their voice heard. Now, it would be a nice thing if she was gay and she felt led to be courageous in her life and tell us her business. But just the audacity of this group. Somebody needs to slap the members of this organization. And besides, why can’t these organizations just ask celebrities that are already out to be a spokesperson?
Perez was involved in the outings of Lance Bass and Neil Patrick Harris a couple of years ago. He has said, “I know there is some controversy about outing people, but I also believe the only way we’re gonna have change is with visibility. And if I have to drag some people screaming out of the closet, then I will.”
While I haven’t seen him “out” anyone in a while, he still has stories insinuating who’s gay in Hollywood. He needs to get a life.
